The Favorite Toy: Sofia the First

Disney Junior’s Sofia the First is a big hit with Guinevere. I thought I’d line up all of her Sofias for a photo.

Guinevere said “Those are my dollies. You can’t take pictures of them!” and some of the Sofias were taken.

We have a Disney Store plush Sofia too, but I can’t find it. Here’s an old shot of it with the singing doll.

And with Guinevere at Disneyland. Aw.thefavoritetoy-shannonkay-20130613-001

Back to Singing Doll Sofia. She is lovely and fairly easy to move and pose.

thefavoritetoy-shannonkay-20131016-005She has an on/off/demo switch under her dress on her torso. Be sure she is switched to “on” and not “demo” or she’ll only sing part of her song.

thefavoritetoy-shannonkay-20131016-003Her dress is pretty nice and she’s got a plastic Amulet of Avalor. Her tiara is still tied to her head. There are a few thread ties still in her hair too.

I was surprised at how much taller Life in the Dreamhouse Barbie is than Singing Sofia. Since she’s supposed to be 12″ I figured they’d be about the same height, and I guess they’re not far off. The proportions are pretty different though. Barbie is much thinner and of course Sofia’s head is comparatively huge. Mini doll Sofia seems of decent child height in comparison to Barbie.

Here’s a shot of Mini Sofia with a Minnie Mouse mirror. If I’d been thinking clearly, I might have tried to get a shot of her reflection in the mirror. Oh, well. I thought Mini Doll Sofia would be able to play with Chelsea’s friends.

The Chelsea dolls are a little taller and Sofia has different proportions, but I still think they can play together nicely. I was just getting the dolls set up when Guinevere pushed up her tiny chair and got in on the playing.

[Fanvid] Narnia – Be My Escape

This is a video I’ve been wanting to make since, like, before the first movie came out. All from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. My first HD video!

Song: Be My Escape
Artist: Relient K
Characters/Pairings: It mostly features the Pevensies and Aslan, but there are some other Narnians as well, such as Mr. Tumnus.

Elbow in the Butter Dish

Earlier this evening, I was having dinner with my grandparents and I happened to put my elbow in the butter dish. I didn’t actually get my elbow in the stick of butter, it was a much reduced stick of butter, but I did get some butter on my elbow from the sort of butter residue on the dish. My first thought was the scene from Harry Potter in which Ginny sticks her elbow in the butter dish because she has a crush on Harry and is nervous.

My first reaction was, oddly enough, to rub it in. Now I’m comparing my elbows, and I’ve been thinking. Could ordinary butter be the solution to dry elbows?

Betty Botter Bought some Butter
“But,” she said “this butter’s bitter.”
“If I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter.”
So Betty Botter bought some better butter for her batter.

Titanic: Adventure Out of Time

Last night I was going through a box of old stuff, and I found, not only a Titanic calendar for 1999 and my Titanic Poster Book, but my copy of the great old Titanic Computer game, Titanic: Adventure Out of Time. Yes, this was the game where you got to walk around the Titanic and everything.

I’ve ripped the two discs to my computer as ISOs so I won’t lose the discs or anything, and I plan on scanning the art/instructions that are on the cardboard envelope thing the game was in. I got this game like 8 years ago, so it will be interesting to see how it looks now. Now if I could only find my Titanic dinner music CD…

Hallelujah! She’s Dead!

At about 7:30 this evening, my aunt Tana who lives in Wisconsin called me saying “do you want to know what happens on The O.C. tonight?” I was like “I don’t know, do I?” So she said “I’m not sure if it’s really happening… but Marissa dies.” so of course I replied with an “I totally wanted to know that!”.

Of course I was very excited and tried to call my sister immediately. When she didn’t pick up I called my parents’ house and they told me she was at a school play, so I had to text her. I went over to my parents’ house to watch it with my sister when she came home. I eventually got a text reply from my sister saying “OMG finally”. My mom doesn’t watch The O.C. but I told her about the Marissa death anyway. When I told my mom how Mischa is from the East Coast and so Marissa sounds wrong and explained how she says “orange”(like awrange), my mom was greatly disturbed and said “I bet she doesn’t even know the secret handshake!” My mom watched the death scene with us so she could bond with Tana too. She was really good with predictions. First she shot that Marissa should be thrown from the car and then she said that the car would burst into flames, which kind of happened except that Marissa was not still inside. It was great how they played the Hallelujah song during the death scene. I know it’s a saddish sounding song, but Hallelujah means “Praise God!”. That’s about right. “Praise God, she’s dead!”. I just hope she stays that way and this isn’t some sort of sham. The real tragedy is that the car that Ryan’s mom gave him is totaled.
